I have discovered one thing this past year - I am horrible at keeping up on blog posts! And I believe it to be a sign that I am more of a blog reader than a blog keeper (not to mention I'm horrible at keeping up things). Still, I'd like to keep this space for when I'd like to share things and hopefully with this next semester being a little less busy, I can post more.
I can't go into a new year without some things that I want to change/work on. I hope you all have a list of things as well, but here's mine:
1. Actually STUDY God's Word.
Yeah you go to church and do a quick devotion before bed but I feel that I'm missing out on so much more. I believe that God knows what he's talking about when he tells us to read his Word and that it will guide us and help us make good decisions. We need all the help we can get. Since I'm bad at self-motivation and studying, I bought some bible study guides to work through.
2. Pray more often.
Prayer shouldn't just be limited to before eating and sleeping. I like talking to my friends and I think that once I start praying more often, I can talk to Him more like I talk to my friends.
3. Don't drink pop unless it's a holiday or special occasion such as birthdays or vacation.
I actually did really well with this resolution last year. It became really easy for me to pick water over a pop when we went out to eat and I tried not to keep pop in my dorm. Unfortunately I can't convince Matthew to give up the Mountain Dew but to each his own I suppose.
4. Cut back on sweets.
When you start looking at labels, you will be amazed how much sugar is in everything. I bought a box of yogurt Cherrios and it has just as much sugar as the same amount of Cinnamon Toast Crunch! Talk about tricky! I plan to look at more labels and cut out sugar where I can such as buying sugar free items and eating less sweet treats. Can't convince Matthew of this idea either.
5. Write more.
It speaks for itself.
6. Sit down and just scrapbook.
It's not that I didn't have time really. I usually have at least 2 hours during the school year each day that I'm free. Yet I hardly ever took the time to sit down and scrapbook. I'm WAY behind in that area and it's just time that I SIT DOWN and take the time to do it. Sometimes I get to overwhelmed in making the perfect page and then I take hours and hours to make just one page and even then I don't always like it. I've realized that you can't expect your pages to always look like the ones in the magazines. I'm not a perfectionist and I don't like things to take forever and I don't have all of the fancy tools that some scrapbookers have. Make do with what you have and if you made it, and you like it, then you truly have created a masterpiece.
